In China, the Defense Ministry has hosted a grand reception to mark the 85th anniversary of the establishment of the People's Liberation Army. President Hu Jintao and other national leaders joined the 1,800 guests at the Great Hall of People in Beijing for the event. Defense Minister Liang Guanglie sent best wishes to soldiers, armed police, reserve forces and militia, as well as those who contributed to the development of the Chinese military.
