A spokesman for the company responsible for the guest list says the plane was carrying a total of 50 passengers. He did not say if that number included the crew. The Indonesian Ministry of Transportation says rescue teams are searching the area just south of the capital Jakarta. Bad weather has forced at least two helicopters to turn back. The Sukhoi Superjet-100 took off from Jakarta’s Halim Perdanakusuma Airport on Wednesday afternoon. It dropped off the radar 21 minutes after take-off, near the Salak mountain range.
