Russian PM Putin hosts annual call-in show
CNTV, December 16, 2011

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin is hosting his annual call-in show, breaking his silence on the protests following the State Duma elections on December the 4th.

The show comes at a time of sagging approval ratings for Putin, down to just 30 percent in a Levada poll in late November. Judging by the questions currently listed as "most asked" on the show’s website, this year’s program mainly focuses on bread-and-butter issues, such as pensions, housing and health care.

Visitors to the site have also asked Putin for his opinion on the protests, the largest of which brought tens of thousands of people to Bolotnaya Ploshchad in central Moscow last Saturday. Questions can be submitted through the show’s website, as well as by phone calls, or text messages. Additional questions will come from a studio audience.
