【合作社]劳动者自愿联合起来，为进行合作生产、经营或消费而建立的一种经济组织形式。合作社是合作组织的较完备、典型的形式。1984年10月在德国汉堡举行的国际合作联盟第28届代表大会通过的(国际合作联盟章程(修正案)》规定:“只要以促进其成员的经济与社会进步为目标，以互助合作为基础所经营的企业，并遵循罗虚代尔所确定的、被国际合作联盟第23届代表大会所修订的合作社原则的，均可被认为是合作社组织。”这个章程将合作社所应具备的基本特征，归纳为以下几条:参加合作社是自愿的;实行民主选举、管理的民主性组织;合作社的盈余归全体成员所有，扣除发展基金后，按社员的业务交往量比例大小分配;加强合作教育;积极发展地区间、国家间的联系与合作。合作社既是具有法人地位的经济组织，又是群众性的社团组织。其规模可以是小型的，也可以是大型的;其素质层次可以是低级的，也可以是高级的。
