比利时小提琴家、作曲家。1820年 2月17日生于韦尔维耶,1881年6月6日卒于阿尔及利亚。是C.-A.de贝里奥的得意门生。维厄唐13岁开始作广泛的旅行演出，声誉与日俱增。1846～1852年任俄国宫廷乐师及圣彼得堡音乐学院教授。在此期间他创作了不少作品，其中包括深受П.И.柴科夫斯基赞赏的《第四小提琴协奏曲》。1858～1868的11年间,他在欧洲各国进行频繁的演出活动,是他的演奏艺术昌盛时期，评论界称赞他是"具有浪漫主义倾向的最卓越的小提琴演奏大师之一"。1871年起，任布鲁塞尔音乐学院教授，成为法国、比利时小提琴学派承前启后的重要人物，杰出的小提琴家E.伊萨伊是他的学生。他的作品以技巧精致、曲调优美著称。他的 6首小提琴协奏曲，表现了艰深的技巧并切合乐器的性能，是小提琴大型乐曲发展史上的重要里程碑。
