本文借用我国著名音乐学家沈恰于1982年发表的一篇题为《音腔论》的学术论文中的部分观点,诸如关于中国传统音乐中“音腔”的概念、“音腔”的自身结构、“音腔”的主要特征及其所具有的特殊音乐形态等作为全文的理论基础和参照,并采用《音腔论》里对中国传统音乐中“音腔”研究的相似手法,结合大量西方电子音乐作品中的实例,对“电子音乐中的‘腔式’”在电子音乐中所体现出的自身结构、音响形态、以及其音响材料在音色和类型上的选择和组织等方面的各种特征进行深入的系统分析,试图能找出电子音乐中的“腔式”与中国传统音乐中“音腔”间的内在联系及区别所在。
