（术语）三观之一。观中谛之理也。诸宗各以中观为观道之至极，法相宗以观遍计所执非有，依他圆成非空为中观，三论宗以观诸法不生不灭，乃至不来不去为中观，天台宗以观三千诸法一一绝待为中观。然天台所立之中观，有隔历圆融之二法，别教所说，为隔历之中，圆教所说，为圆融之中。隔历之中，于空假之外，有绝待之中，乃但中也。圆融之中，为空假绝待之中，其中即不但中也。盖别教之义，原隔历空假之二者，故随于空假之外不得不隔历中道。然空假本来非为别物，空即假，假即空也，然则离此空假相待之绝待之中，亦非在相待之外。相待即绝待也，绝待即相待也，故空假中之三者为一法之异名，即假即空即中也。空之外无假，假之外无空，空假相待之外，无中之绝待，中之绝待外，无空假之相待。是为圆教至极之中观。
