Observations on vocal behavior of the white-browed laughing thrush (Garrulax sannio) were carried out from March to May in 1995 in Foping National Natural Reserve, Shanxi Province and Jing dong County, Yunnan Province.
1995年3～5月,分两组在到陕西省佛坪国家自然保护区和云南省景东县观察与采集白颊噪鹛Garrulax sannio的二重唱、召唤声、报警声、鸣唱声等,对这些鸣声进行了语图分析。

通过婺源黄喉噪鹛华南亚种(Garrulax galbanus courtoisi)的分布种群、繁殖生态及其栖息地的村落风水林的植物物种调查,揭示该鸟类与村落风水林之间的依赖关系;在分析村落风水林植物和鸟类种群对该县物种多样性贡献率的基础上,指出村落风水林对保护物种多样性,维持生态平衡和创造农村优美环境具有重要意义。

白颊长臂猿的体形细长，肩宽臀小。体长40-65厘米，无尾，直立时两手可角地。与黑长臂猿的最大区别是雄猿两颊具明显的白色块斑，体毛仍为黑色。头顶具尖形冠毛。雌性幼体为黑色，成年后为灰黄色或金黄色，头顶也有黑色毛冠。
栖息于海拔1500米以下的热带雨林中，由一对成年猿和2-3只不同年龄的子女组成小群，营树栖生活。取食野果、树芽、嫩叶及花，特别喜食榕树果实，亦食昆虫。喜欢鸣叫，早晨太阳初升时成年猿首先鸣叫，最后全体共鸣，声音悦耳，数里之内可闻。
由于开垦种橡胶树，大面积热带雨林遭到破坏，白颊长臂猿的分布范围急剧缩小，数量也十分稀少，亟待加强保护。
