   一种化学元素。化学符号Se,原子序数34  ,原子量78.96,属周期系ⅥA族。1817年瑞典J.J.贝采利乌斯在斯德哥尔摩法龙镇硫酸厂的铅室泥中发现硒,其英文名称来源于希腊文selēnē,含义是月亮。硒在地壳中的含量为9×10-4%。它可以游离状态存在于单质硫的矿物中,但主要以硒化物的形式成矿,如硒铜矿(Cu2Se)、硒铜银矿(AgCuSe)、硒硫砷矿[As(S,Se2)]。上述这些硒矿很少独立成矿,都和黄铜矿(CuFeS2)、黄铁矿(FeS2)共生,因此硒的主要来源是炼铜等有色金属的电解阳极泥和硫酸厂的残泥。
    硒是带金属光泽的固体,熔点217℃,沸点684.9℃,密度4.81克/厘米3(20℃)。有6种同素异形体。硒能导电、导热,电导率随光照的强弱而急剧变化,能增加到1000倍以上,可作光导材料。硒在空气或氧气中燃烧,生成二氧化硒,溶于水,产生亚硒酸,氟或氯可将它氧化为硒酸,性质与硫酸相似。硒与氢作用,生成硒化氢,是一种无色可燃气体。硒的氧化态为+1、+2、+4、+6和-2。硒的毒性比较大,但作为微量元素,在某种情况下对人体却是有益的。硒的生产方法为将阳极泥等焙烧,可得二氧化硒,用盐酸溶解得亚硒酸,再用二氧化硫还原得粗硒,可用真空蒸馏法提纯。硒的最大用途是使玻璃去色,在玻璃原料中含Fe2+,会显浅绿色,如果加入少量硒,使玻璃呈红色,绿色和红色互补,使玻璃变成无色。硒还用于制造复印机的光接受器、高效整流器以及光电池。
