残疾人口
残疾人口患有各类残疾的人的总和。残疾是由于先天畸形和病伤等原因在人体上遗留下来的固定症状，它给身体带来形态和功能上的改变，影响正常生活和劳动能力。世界卫生组织根据残疾影响人的生理功能和社会功能的状况，把残疾划分为三个层次:①功能、形态残疾。为残疾的第一级，一般为病伤的后遗症，使人体结构或功能发生缺陷或异常。②丧失功能残疾。人体的结构缺陷和功能障碍，使残疾者丧失应具备的能力(与残疾者的性别、年龄、文化程度和职业等相应的能力)。③社会功能残疾。由于身体形态和功能的缺陷或异常，影响残疾者参加社会活动，或虽具备参加社会活动的能力，因受社会上一些人的歧视而被迫脱离社会活动的残疾。残疾人口的多少及其所占比例的大小、残疾严重程度是人口素质的一个标志。中国1987年全国残疾人抽样调查结果，残疾人现残率为4.9%，以此推算总体，中国约有各类残疾人5 164万，即平均每20人左右就有1个残疾人，平均每5户半就有一个残疾人户。中国政府对残疾人十分重视和关心，积极开发残疾人身体功能，为残疾者创造条件，设立适合残疾者的行业，开拓就业机会等。同时，为防止残疾人口的出现做了大量工作。
