The researches and applications on the key technologies of the cutterhead design were presented,which mainly included rock fragmentation process mechanism by disc cutter,cutting geometry,rock mechanical properties and testing,disc cutter cutting force and performance prediction model,cutterhead layout and cutter allocation,etc.

A cutter layout method of the full-face rock TBM was proposed,in which the technological requirements of the cutter layout were summarized,then the rock-broken volume estimation method for the non-equality cutter space was given and a nonlinear multi-objective cutter layout mathematical model with complex constraints was established.
