中国图书馆学教育家。字颂声。1920年 7月16日生于安徽芜湖。1943年毕业于西南联合大学社会学系。1950年毕业于美国哥伦比亚大学社会工作研究生院，获理学硕士学位。同年回国。历任华东师范大学政治教育系资料室主任，校图书馆副馆长、馆长。1979年主持创建图书馆学系并任系主任、教授、硕士研究生导师。1988年起任该系(今图书馆学情报学系)名誉主任。曾任中国图书馆学会第一、二届理事，三届常务理事。在社会科学情报、外文参考、图书馆学情报学教育等领域有一定研究。著有《社会科学情报工作导论》(1991)。主持编译《美国及世界其他地区图书馆事业》(1983)。发表论文多篇，其中《社会科学情报源的结构系统》、《试论我国社科情报教育的基本模式》等有一定影响。
