门神 道教俗神。中国古代传说中的司门之神。旧俗贴其像于 门以驱鬼祛凶。汉时门神指神荼、郁垒。后世所绘门神,神荼白脸,喜相;郁垒红脸,怒相。《 山海经 》有关于神荼、郁垒二神的记载。道书《无上黄箓大斋立成仪》列神荼、郁垒于神祗之最下位。唐代的门神改指秦琼和尉迟恭。传说唐太宗不豫,闻门外鬼魅呼号,太宗惧之。秦琼请与尉迟恭戎装立门外以伺,夜果无事,太宗乃令画二人像悬于宫门左右。后世沿袭,以此像为门神镇邪。宋以后,门神愈益多样,或戴虎头盔,或为将军,或为朝官,复加爵鹿 、蝠喜 、 宝马、瓶鞍等状,皆取美名以迎祥。道观有时以青龙、白虎为门神。
