细节描写是指抓住生活中的细微而又具体的典型情节，加以生动细致的描绘，它具体渗透在对人物、景物或场面描写之中。它是最生动、最有表现力的手法，它往往用极精彩的笔墨将人物的真善美和假丑恶和盘托出，让读者欣赏评价。
如课文《我的伯父鲁迅先生》中的一段细节描写：
“他们把那个拉车的扶上车子，一个蹲着，一个半跪着，爸爸拿镊子给那个拉车的夹出碎玻璃片，伯父拿硼酸水给他洗干净。”这段描写形象地体现了伯父和爸爸关心、热爱劳动人民的美好品质。扶、蹲、跪、夹、洗这一系列细小动作的描写充分说明了伯父的细致、热心。
“于细微处见真情”。这段细节描写丰富了人物的形象，使人物描写有血有肉有灵魂，而且把人物与众不同的个性凸显出来，从而使人物形象更鲜活。
