体长30-40cm，卵圆形侧扁。全身黑兰色，从头到尾柄有15-20条波形花纹，花纹末梢延长到臀鳍和背鳍边缘，花纹以鲜黄色和浅蓝色相间排列。从尾柄角度看，于体上的波纹恰似一试图如水中所形成的波状潋鳍，波光闪闪，非常美丽。饲养水温1.002-1.023，海水ph值8.0-8.5，还随硬度7-9度dh。饲料有切碎的鱼肉、水蚯蚓、海水鱼颗粒饲料等。水质要稳定。
