隋唐时期中央十六卫之一左右监门府（卫）主官，正四品，左、右各一人，掌管宫殿门禁有及守卫之事。隋炀帝大业三年（607）改称监门郎将。唐代监门卫设有左右上将军各一人，从二品，左右大将军各一人，正三品，左右将军各二人，从三品。所属有监门校尉、中郎将等。唐代左监门将军判入，右监门将军判出。
