六腑以通为用 生理学术语。六腑的共同生理特点是“传化物而不藏”（《素问·五脏别论》），如胃腐熟水谷、主降浊，胆的疏泄胆汁，小肠的泌别清浊，三焦的通调水道等。要使六腑的出纳、消化、转输等主要功能得以正常进行，必须保持其通畅无阻。后世从大量的临床实践中，总结出“六腑以通为用”的理论，对六腑病证的治疗具有指导意义。
