【美元泛滥】亦称“美元过剩”。加世纪50年代以来，美国持续多年的国际收支逆差使积欠外国的债务猛增，海外的美元愈益庞大，既不能兑换黄金，又无其他出路，造成美元过剩的现象。这期间，资本主义各国为医治战争创伤，恢复本国经济，大力发展工业生产和对外贸易，各国之间的经济实力对此逐步发生变化，尤其是西欧各国和日本在经济上取得了十分明显的成绩，国际收支持续顺差，外汇储备不断增加。另一方面，美国经济增长减缓，实力下降，庞大的海外军事开支和资本输出大量增加，致使国际收支状况不断恶化，外汇储备日益减少。于是形成了美元泛滥。
