性质:(一)heavy oil  在石油工业中,指由天然石油或人造石油提去汽油、煤油和柴油后的液态残余物。暗黄色。黏稠而重。密度约为0.90~0.96g/cm3。热值约为45 171kJ/kg。用作裂化和气化原料、锅炉燃料以及制造润滑油的原料。(二)creosote(oil);dead oil在煤焦油工业中,指高温煤焦油在轻油和中油后的第三个馏分即在230~300℃蒸出的馏分。又称杂酚油(creosote)。黄绿色。黏稠而重。密度约为1.04~1.07g/cm3。久露空气中变褐色。冷却时有萘等固体析出。并可提取苊、芴、甲酚、二甲酚、喹唑、异喹啉等。也可用作木材的防腐剂等。
