江西曲种。形成于江西宜春。相传在清乾隆年间已盛行，长期流行于江西宜春、万载、上高、高安、新余、分宜、萍乡等地，并渐及清江、峡江、吉安、吉水、安福、永新、莲花、泰和以及湖南茶陵、攸县、醴陵、浏阳、平江一带。宜春评话旧时多由盲艺人演唱，以唱为主，间有说白。演唱者左臂托着评话筒（形似渔鼓的击节乐器）,左手指夹一小竹片敲击筒壁,右手指拍击筒底，以掌握节拍，烘托气氛。基本曲调有〔文词调〕、〔板调〕、〔合调〕，专用曲调有〔凡调〕、〔梦调〕等。传统曲目以长篇为主,有《金钗记》、《卖水记》、《乌江渡》等数十部，多半取材于民间传说。另有一些小段，如《懒婆娘》、《十劝嫂》等，这些小段风趣诙谐，富有生活气息。
中华人民共和国成立后，宜春县组织盲艺人在内容和形式上进行了革新，并保留一些传统曲目，编演新的曲目。伴奏增加锣鼓、唢呐、胡琴,丰富了伴奏音乐,使宜春评话得到进一步普及流传。
