Three charophytes,Nitella papillata,Nitellopsis obtuse and Chara connivens in three different genus were stained by Giemsa and 4′,6-diamidino-2′-phenylindole to observe their nucleus.

轮藻门轮藻科的1属。 植物体特别粗壮，不具皮层；无托叶或托叶退化；小枝只有2～5个节片,苞片细胞1～3枚，几与小枝等直径,无小苞片。现在已知的种，均为雌雄异株。
本属分布域狭窄,只有3种，主要产于欧洲，其中分布较广的钝节拟丽藻，在中国的华中和西南地区也常见。拟丽藻多生于较深的湖泊和池塘里，常有轮叶黑藻、狐尾藻等水生维管束植物伴生。
