西班牙电影导演。1918年10月 3日生于塔拉戈纳省的巴尔斯，1979年卒于马德里。自幼酷好电影艺术，曾是电影作家协会电影俱乐部的成员。作为电影编剧、制片人和助理导演拍摄过多部影片，1948年独立执导了第一部影片《十字路口》。他最初的作品题材严肃，涉及社会和战争等问题，以自然风景做天然道具乃是这些影片的风格。早期代表作是《囚犯的锁链》(1955)。1957年转而拍摄喜剧片，并形成自己影片的特点：布景豪华、漂亮的姑娘和诙谐的小伙子云集。60年代中后期，拍摄了多部深受观众喜爱的喜剧片，并以其浓郁的民族风格多次受到国家演出工会的嘉奖。最轰动的影片为《城市没有我的份》（1966）。他拍片速度快，善于把握喜剧的分寸，在镜头的节奏、运动和韵律方面，处理得颇有特色。但是，由于他过分追求数量（30年内拍了93部影片）,一些作品质量不高,丧失了他原有的艺术素质。他的其他作品还有《广场上的新人》(1966)、《海卫队》(1967)、《应该管教爸爸》(1970)、《无赖》(1973)等。
