| 纳皮尔（1550～1617） Napier，John 苏格兰数学家。对数的创始人。曾译纳白尔。生于苏格兰爱丁堡附近，1617年4月4日卒于同地。1563年入圣安德鲁斯大学，后留学欧洲大陆，1571年返回苏格兰。他对数字计算深有研究。而最大贡献是对数的发明。纳皮尔的杰作《奇妙的对数定律说明书》1614年6月在爱丁堡出版。 但直到后来H.布里格斯将它改为常用对数，才得到广泛使用。 |
