宋赋税输纳办法之一,实际上成为一种加税名目。征科赋税有固定物品，官府根据一时所需，变而取之，谓之折变。按照规定,折变并用平估,使其值轻重相当，且以纳月上旬时估中价准折，实际上却往往增取其值，亏损人户。如纳麦在六月，州县遂串通市司于五月中先减麦价，仅留三四分，待科折已定，即顿增价。大观二年(1108)，京西路以盐钱、杂钱折变物料，孟州温县小麦实价每斗为钱一百二十文，而折变只作五十二文；颍州汝阴县（今安徽阜阳）实价一百一十二文，折变只作三十七文。陕西路粮价，大观四年已数倍于往昔，折变却仍用熙丰之价,致使税户陡增六七倍之赋。按照规定,折变物色数额，须于起纳前揭榜晓示，实际上却往往临时变更,反复纽折。如应纳现钱,即小估价值令纳绸绢，又以绸绢之值折纳丝绵，复将所纳丝绵回纳现钱；以绢较钱，绢倍于钱，以钱较绵，钱又倍于绵。反复纽折，辗转增加。南宋初，两淮州县一亩地的赋税，经过纽折竟高达四五斗，为正税的四五倍以上。
