9-羰基-(E)-2-癸烯酸和9-羟基-(E)-2-癸烯酸为蜂王信息素的主要组分,以1-苯磺酰基-2-丙酮和5-溴戊酸乙酯为原料,通过烷基化、羰基保护、还原、Wittig-Horner反应、水解等一系列功能基转化后得到9-羰基-(E)-2-癸烯酸,再经贝克酵母生物酶促还原合成了手性的S-9-羟基-(E)-2-癸烯酸,全程收率28%。

从18世纪开始，贝克就由不来梅向北海和波罗地海沿岸各城市出口啤酒。直到现在 该公司还始终继承这一传统。
1992年贝克与中国福建莆田金钥匙啤酒厂进行许可证生产合作，一度成为在中国名气最大的外国啤酒之一。后来由于特殊的原因贝克终止了许可证合作合同。1999年4月与澳大利亚狮王集团在苏州独资的一家啤酒公司签定许可证协议，将在中国生产和销售贝克牌啤酒的权利转让给了狮王集团。
