   从地下或敷设在地面穿过河渠、溪谷、洼地或道路的输水压力管道 。多采用钢筋混凝土管或预应力钢筋混凝土管,也采用混凝土管或钢管。低水头时可用浆砌石管。倒虹吸管分为3个部分。① 进口段:包括渐变段、铺盖和护底等防渗防冲设施、拦污栅、闸门、进水口等。当含沙量大时还设沉沙池。②管身:断面多为圆形,也用矩形或直墙圆拱形。可埋于地下,也可敷设于地面 。当管道跨越深谷和山洪沟时,可在深槽部分建桥,在其上铺设管道过河。管道在桥头两端山坡转弯处设镇墩加强稳定,并于其上开设放水冲沙孔。两岸管道仍沿地面敷设。这类倒虹吸管又称桥式倒虹吸管。③出口段:设消力池,并与下游平顺连接。倒虹吸管较渡槽造价低,施工简单 ;但水头损失较大 ,清淤较困难。 公元前180年在古希腊帕加马(今土耳其)建一座下凹深度超过200米、管径为30厘米的倒虹吸管。据《后汉书》记载,中国在186年已建造使用倒虹吸管。
