固体与液体接触时，接触面趋于缩小、液体不能附着在固体上的现象。如水银不能附着在玻璃上，把水银倒入玻璃容器内，水银与玻璃壁接触处的角度大于90°，表明接触面趋于缩小，即水银不浸润玻璃。水不能附着在石蜡上，说明水不浸润石蜡。
