| 悲剧 tragedy 戏剧的主要体裁之一。发源于古希腊，由春季祭祀酒神仪式上的酒神颂演变而成。亚里士多德把它定义为：是对一个严肃的、完整的、有一定长度的行动的模仿；引起怜悯与恐惧来使这种情感得到卡塔西斯（净化、宣泄）。后世，很多美学家、戏剧理论家都曾从不同的角度确立悲剧的本质。在悲剧中 ，人的欲望、情感 、意志 、能力都是历史的产物，体现着人类的本质力量 ，但都不可避免地遭受挫折、磨难，甚至是厄运，而且不可能在现实中实现。这就构成了“历史必然的要求与这个要求的实际上不可能实现之间的悲剧冲突”。在这种悲剧冲突中，主人公不仅要同为其造成挫折、磨难的强大外在力量搏斗，往往还要同主体的内在本质力量进行搏斗。尽管突然降临的悲剧性情境似乎是偶然的，但是，这种情境只是为主体行动安排的必要契机，而行动都是源于主体的自我意识，是主体为了极限发挥自身的潜能而做出的。因而 ，由行动构成的命运的曲线，连同最终的结局  无论是失败或是丧失生命，便是他（或她）完整生活的凝聚，亦即完整的人格在行动中自满自足。悲剧的力量正在于主人公有限的生命运动所体现的人类精神的永恒价值。
悲剧的类型可以从不同的角度进行区分。在戏剧史上，悲剧题材的演变要比其他体裁更为明显。人们把古希腊悲剧区分为命运悲剧和英雄悲剧，两者的主人公都是超凡的神祗和王公贵族，在悲剧冲突中表现激烈的情感、超人的意志和不朽的精神。莎士比亚的悲剧主人公多是王公贵族。19世纪以后，悲剧的题材转向普通人的日常生活，在现实主义悲剧作品中，通过小人物永不满足的、不能实现的追求表现现代人的生态与心态，从而获得一种崇高感。荒诞派剧作家则善于从人类尴尬的生存状态中寻找悲剧题材，着力表现当代人对失去了人的本质力量的渴求。 中国古典戏曲也不乏悲剧作品。与西方悲剧相比较，中国戏曲往往由忠与奸、善与恶、压迫与被压迫的鲜明对立构成悲剧冲突，其中有《赵氏孤儿》、《精忠谱》这样的英雄悲剧，有《窦娥冤》这样表现被压迫者反抗精神的悲剧，也有《牡丹亭》、《梁山伯与祝英台》这样的爱情悲剧。在不少作品中，大团圆的结局往往削弱了原有的悲剧力量。 |
