用粘结剂把磨料粘附在基体上的环带状涂附磨具，用于砂带磨削。砂带按所用基体不同分为布砂带、纸砂带和布纸复合基体砂带。一般砂带的基体都有接头，也有专门编织成环形带的无接头布砂带。多接头砂带和螺旋形接头砂带（见图）的出现，使砂带宽度突破了布、纸幅面宽度的限制，最大宽度已超过4米,可实现大面积的一次加工。多接头砂带可以对接，也可搭接，对接时一般用涤纶薄膜作衬底。螺旋形接头砂带有两层，一般以纸作衬底层，两层都是对接的，各层接缝相互错开。砂带的宽度大、质轻、柔软，已成为大面积、复杂型面和高效率加工的重要磨具，广泛用于不锈钢板和胶合板的磨削和抛光，以及喷气发动机和汽轮机叶片的磨削。
