广泛用于古代世界(埃及、希腊、罗马等国)和中世纪各国。由兽皮、毛或植物纤维做成带状,中间部分宽,一端有环扣,套在投石手的手上或木柄上(长鞭投弹带)。弹丸放在中央的宽部,通常为鹅卵石、金属球。投石手同时握住两端,在头顶不断旋转加力,然后松开无环扣的一端。有效杀伤距离150米,介于投矛和弓箭之间。投石手通常带有十发以上的弹丸。投石带有多种形式,澳洲、非洲、大洋洲诸部落一直使用到二十世纪初叶。
