【无言】
 (术语)又曰无言行或无言戒,行无言之一种佛法。无言童子是也。大集经十二无言菩萨品曰:“王舍城师子将军家产一子。当其生时,虚空之中多有诸天作如是言:童子!当应念法,思惟于法。凡所发言,莫说世事,常当颁宣出世之法,常当守口,慎言少语,莫于世事起诸觉观,当依于义,莫依文字。尔时闻是语已,不复涕泣。无婴儿相,乃至七日色貌和悦,见人欢喜,目未曾眴。是时有人语其父母:是儿不祥不应畜养,何以故?喑无声故。父母答言:是儿虽复喑不出声,然其身根具足无缺,当知是儿必有福德,非是不祥薄福之人。因为立字,字曰无言。时无言童子渐渐长大,如八岁儿。所游方面,人所乐见,随有说法转法轮处,乐往听受,口无所宣。尔时无言童子以佛神力与其父母眷属宗亲往宝坊所,到已见佛,心生欢喜。礼敬供养,右绕三匝,合掌而立。并见十方诸来菩萨,生大喜心。尔时舍利弗白佛言:世尊!师子将军所生之子,身根具足而不能语,是何恶业因缘所致?佛告舍利弗:汝今不应作如是语轻是童子,何以故?是人即是大菩萨也。(中略)尔时无言菩萨现如是等大神通已,低头合掌作如是言:南无佛陀。南无佛陀。(中略)尔时无言以佛神力及己愿力,与诸菩萨踊在虚空,高七多罗树,正向于佛而说偈。”(有无言童子经二卷,此品之异译也。)梁武金刚般若经忏文曰:“无言童子,妙得不言之妙。不说菩萨,深见无说之深。”(不说菩萨者,维摩居士也。)
