A quantitative evaluation method for vertical seal ability of faults in cap rock is established by using the displacement pressure of rock within fracture belt derived from the displacement pressure of cap rock and the coefficient of destructiveness of faulting on cap rock seal ability by comparing the pressures of diagenetic compaction in fault zone and cap rock.
