| 旋角羚 Addax nasomaculatus；addax 偶蹄目牛科旋角羚属的唯一种。因角呈扭旋状而得名。体型较大，体长1.5～1.7米，肩高0.9～1.1米，体重约120千克；颈短，肩比臀部略高；四肢较粗，蹄宽大，适于在沙漠中行走；尾圆而细，长25～35厘米，末端具长毛；冬毛长而粗糙，灰褐色，夏毛沙黄色；头部前额有较大片的黑色簇毛；眼小；雌雄均具角，长76.2～89厘米，角较细，分别向后外侧再向上弯曲，并略呈扁的螺旋形扭曲 。分布于冈比亚、阿尔及利亚并向东延伸至撒哈拉大沙漠。 栖息于大沙漠中，通常结成5～20只的群体，由1只老雄羚率领，为找寻足够的食物而进行长距离的迁移。对干旱沙漠有极强的适应能力，一生中极少饮水。晨昏及夜间活动。身体笨重，奔跑速度较慢，容易被捕杀。怀孕期约10～12个月 ，冬季或早春产仔 ，每胎1仔 ，产仔后立即又进行交配。肉为当地居民所喜食，皮主要用来做鞋。 |
