旋角羚 Addax nasomaculatus;addax 偶蹄目牛科旋角羚属的唯一种。因角呈扭旋状而得名。体型较大,体长1.5~1.7米,肩高0.9~1.1米,体重约120千克;颈短,肩比臀部略高;四肢较粗,蹄宽大,适于在沙漠中行走;尾圆而细,长25~35厘米,末端具长毛;冬毛长而粗糙,灰褐色,夏毛沙黄色;头部前额有较大片的黑色簇毛;眼小;雌雄均具角,长76.2~89厘米,角较细,分别向后外侧再向上弯曲,并略呈扁的螺旋形扭曲 。分布于冈比亚、阿尔及利亚并向东延伸至撒哈拉大沙漠。 栖息于大沙漠中,通常结成5~20只的群体,由1只老雄羚率领,为找寻足够的食物而进行长距离的迁移。对干旱沙漠有极强的适应能力,一生中极少饮水。晨昏及夜间活动。身体笨重,奔跑速度较慢,容易被捕杀。怀孕期约10~12个月 ,冬季或早春产仔 ,每胎1仔 ,产仔后立即又进行交配。肉为当地居民所喜食,皮主要用来做鞋。 |
