作用在机械某一构件的选定点上的假想力。等效力的瞬时功率与实际作用在机械上的所有外力和力矩的瞬时功率之和相等。等效力矩是作用在机械中某构件上的假想力矩，其瞬时功率等于实际作用在机械上的所有外力和力矩的瞬时功率之和。受等效力或等效力矩作用的构件为等效构件，选定点为等效点。应用这个概念可以简化单自由度机构的机械动力学问题。等效力或等效力矩与机械中各构件的速度参量的比值有关，因而是机械位置的函数，如果外力与机械的位置、速度和时间有关，它将是机械位置、速度和时间等多参量函数。等效力和等效力矩都是假想的力和力矩，只在瞬时功率相等的意义上与实际作用在机械上的外力等效，它不等于外力的合力，不能用等效力或等效力矩进行构件的强度和刚度分析。
