| 德拜（1884～1966） Debye，Peter Joseph William 荷兰裔美籍物理学家，化学家。1884年3月24日生于荷兰马斯特里赫特，1966年11月2日卒于纽约伊萨卡。1910年在慕尼黑大学获博士学位后，在苏黎世、乌得勒支、格丁根和莱比锡等大学任教。1935年去柏林主持改建威廉皇家物理研究所。1940年德军入侵他的祖国之前两个月去美国任康奈尔大学化学系主任直到1950年退休。1946年入美国籍。德拜早期从事固体物理的研究工作。1912年改进了爱因斯坦的固体比热容公式，提出了分子的偶极矩公式。1916年和P.谢乐创立了X射线粉末法（德拜-谢乐法），采用粉末状晶体代替较难制备的大块晶体，适用于多晶样品的结构测定。1923年和E.休克尔成功地得出了强电解质溶液的当量电导表达式(德拜-休克尔公式)。他因对偶极矩、X射线和气体中光散射的研究，于1936年获诺贝尔化学奖。 |
