纳粹德国陆军元帅。1900年入伍，参加过“一战”。1933年起先后任骑兵师和坦克师师长，1937年任步兵第十三军军长，先后率部参加入侵苏台德区（1938年）、捷克斯洛伐克和波兰（1939年）的战争。1939年10月起任第二集团军司令，参加了法兰西之战（1940年）和巴尔干战争（1941年）。苏德战争爆发后，率部在莫斯科方向作战。1942年7月任斯大林格勒方向“b”集团军群司令，1943年先后任“f”集团军群司令和巴尔干德军司令，1945年3月在希特勒大本营预备队供职。1945－48年囚禁在美军集中营。
