概述
在m113和m113a1的基础上，加拿大通用汽车公司柴油机分部生产了一种改进性能的专用设备工程车，这是在车前增加了推土铲遂行战斗工程任务的一种车辆。该车改善了车内人员、补给品、工具和设备的布局，加装了外部油箱、液压地钻、液压驱动工具系统和跳板保险装置。
改进后的车辆后部，为8名士兵和工兵班安放贮存器、战斗补给品、三防装置和武器提供了空间。为使车长和驾驶员便于联系，重新布置了通信设备。士兵备有折叠椅。外部油箱安置在车后，容量为360l，安们代替了后跳板两侧的平衡物。在车辆左侧有西姆索(simsoe)液压地钻，装在车体左侧上部，可由2人在数分钟内组装、使用和存放，用于在土地、沥青路面和冻土上钻直径203mm、深达3.048m的孔。地钻的转速为75r/min，能提供13.8mpa的液压动力，借此还可驱动车辆右后部的液压工具系统。在15.24m长的双压力软管(通常绕在卷筒上)的末端有动力工具，包括链锯、手持式凿岩机和有时也用于钻木的冲头。在后跳板上有跳板制动系统，以便使跳板作为工作平台或承重500kg以下的载荷平台使用。
