Common polarizing filters are linear and may affect the AF and AE functions of digital camera this can be remedied by using circular polarizing filter therein the front part is a linear polarizing filter whereas the back part is a specific filter capable of rotating the light vibration plane of the polarized light passed through the front filter consequently not affecting the AE and AF functions.
偏振镜有线偏振镜和圆偏振镜之分,一般的偏振镜为线偏振镜,有可能影响数码相机的AE和AF功能,圆偏振镜的前部起偏振镜作用,通过特定振动方向的偏振光,其后面部分则能使该偏振光的振动方向在一个圆周上旋转,恢复为非偏振光,就不会影响相机的AE和AF功能了。

光的电矢量末端在垂直于传播方向的平面上描绘的轨迹为一圆的偏振光，在椭圆偏振光图1的装置中,如果入射平面偏振光的振动平面跟晶体表面的光轴方向所成的角度θ＝45°，于是在晶体内 o光和 e光有相等的振幅；当它们在晶体产生的位相差为π/2的奇数倍时,则所得合成轨迹呈圆形。
