性质:又称异香兰酸;3-羟基-4-甲氧基苯甲酸;原儿茶酸-4-甲(基)醚。柱状或板状晶体(由水重结晶)。熔点255~257℃。Ka(25℃)3.2×10-5。易溶于乙醇、乙醚,难溶于水。有升华性。由原儿茶酸(3,4-二羟基苯甲酸)与碘甲烷、氢氧化钾在封闭管中加热,制得的异香草酸甲酯经皂化而成。用于有机合成。其衍生物:(1)甲酯,熔点83~84℃,其乙酰衍生物熔点87~85℃,其苯甲酰衍生物熔点101~102℃;(2)乙酯的乙醚衍生物熔点62℃。
