说起台湾小吃，很多人马上就联想到"度小月"担仔面。一点不错，它几乎是台南最有名的一道小吃。可为什么叫"度小月"呢？原来90多年前，一位漳州籍洪姓渔人移民府城，靠打渔为生。每年从清明到中秋，是打渔的淡季，当地叫"小月"。为养家活口，度过"小月"，洪姓渔人就卖起面来，因此得名。由于口味独到，渐渐卖出了名气，成为风行台湾的"名吃"。现在，洪家已传到第三代，生意还是相当兴隆。
担仔面的最大特色，在于它的肉臊。早期，老板挑着碗筷与锅子到处叫卖，买者半蹲式地坐在小凳上食用。今天，卖者仍用一个小炉烧着木炭来煮肉臊，再加上一只味道鲜美的虾子，虽然就这么小小一碗，但风味独特，回味无穷。
