世界上最早出版的化工技术刊物，由英国化学工业协会出版，1882年创刊于伦敦。第1卷仅500页。1918年因内容增加过多,分为综述、文摘和会报等三个分册,分别单独出版。综述分册自1923年第42卷起，改名为《化学与工业综述》，后来又改名《化学与工业》周刊。文摘分册自1926年第45卷改名《英国化学文摘》，其后又改名《英国化学与生理文摘》、《英国文摘》。会报分册自1951年第70卷起，改成《应用化学杂志》（月刊）迄今。
