形态特征子实体微小，匙形或鹿角形，上部常不规则裂成叉状，橙黄色，光滑，干后橙红色，不孕部分色浅。子实体高0.6-1.5cm，柄下部粗0.2-0.3cm，有细绒毛，基部栗褐色至黑褐色，延伸入腐木裂缝中。担子二分叉。孢子两个，光滑，无色，椭圆形近肾形，初期无横隔，后期形成1-2横隔，即成为2-3个细胞，8.9-12.8μm×3-4(5.3)μm，担子叉状，28-38μm×2.4-2.6μm。

经济用途可食用。此种子实体虽小，但色彩鲜，便于认识。该种属含类胡萝卜素等。往往生长在食用菌段木上，被视为“杂菌”。
