羽纹纲等片藻目等片藻科的 1属。壳面舟形或狭舟形。拟壳缝不明显。无壳缝，不能行动。有横纹，横纹与细胞的横轴平行。有向内伸展的横隔片，壳的纵横两轴都对称。壳环面四方形或长方形，也可见横隔片。有复大孢子。
本属有10种,中国已记录3种，如普通等片藻。细胞常相连成带状或锯齿状群体，半咸水或淡水产。也有化石种类。
