即"猎狐"运动，是使用无线电测向机寻找隐蔽电台（狐狸电台）的无线电竞赛项目。比赛在业余波段进行，目前大都使用短波80米和超短波 2米两个波段。比赛地点可选择野外各种复杂地形，也可选在繁华的市区，隐蔽电台需加伪装，使运动员凭眼力不易看到。例如放在树上或草丛中。隐蔽电台可用人工或自动发射讯号。比赛时，运动员从远离电台的地点出发，手持测向机徒步（有时也可规定使用交通工具）寻找隐蔽电台。测向机具有方向性，运动员转动测向机的方向，根据收听讯号强弱不同,判断电台的方向。比赛是在规定的条件下，寻找出一定数量的隐蔽电台，以寻找时间短者为胜。因此运动员不仅要熟练掌握测向技术，而且要有强壮的身体，才能在比赛中快步奔跑，超越各种障碍，缩短寻找时间，获取比赛胜利。目前无线电测向运动已成为世界性的竞赛项目。中国在20世纪60年代曾举办数次全国无线电测向比赛，1980年又举行了男、女和少年的全国比赛。
