车顶盖是车厢顶部的盖板。对于轿车车身的总体刚度而言，顶盖不是很重要的部件，这也是允许在车顶盖上开设天窗的理由。从设计角度来讲，重要的是它如何与前、后窗框及与支柱交界点平顺过渡，以求得最好的视觉感和最小的空气阻力。当然，为了安全车顶盖还应有一定的强度和刚度，一般在顶盖下增加一定数量的加强梁，顶盖内层敷设绝热衬垫材料，以阻止外界温度的传导及减少振动时噪声的传递。
