解释太阳耀斑脉冲阶段的一种模型。和厚靶模型相反，它假设耀斑中的加速粒子向下贯穿不深。这种模型是日本学者高仓提出的。在这种模型里，大多数加速电子有较大的初始投掷角，因此它们被俘获在一定高度的磁区中,该磁区的离子密度数小于每立方厘米1010个。硬X 射线爆发源和微波爆发源即位于此。紫外线和可见光的发射源位于其下，它们不是依靠加速电子能量的直接转移，而是通过热传导将上层大气的能量传至下层低色球。这是薄靶模型的困难所在，因为在太阳大气条件下，热传导的时间常数太大了,不能说明X射线辐射和宽带紫外辐射随时间变化的相似性。
