性质:热致液晶(一般为向列型)高聚物与非液晶热塑性树脂的共混物。前者起增强纤维的作用。向列型热致液晶高聚物是一类由刚性高分子链组成的,在一定温度范围内呈向列型液晶的高聚物。液晶中高分子链自发高度取向的微区称为畴。未受应力作用时,液晶中无数的畴任意取向;受到应力作用时,畴很容易沿应力方向取向排列。将这种热致液晶高聚物在拉伸与剪切应力作用下取向排列,冷却时“原位”形成微纤,因此称为原位复合材料。与传统的玻璃纤维、碳纤维增强复合材料相比,原位复合材料的主要优点有:热致液晶高聚物的加入非但不会增加树脂体系的黏度,反而使黏度降低数倍至数十倍,因此加工性极好;不存在无机纤维增强有机树脂中,因两者热膨胀系数不匹配而造成的界面黏结不良问题。液晶高聚物本身有良好的刚度和强度,增强效果显著,例如尼龙中加入25%的某种液晶高聚物,模量与强度均提高1倍;液晶高聚物本身具较好的韧性与耐热性。
