性质:无色液体,具有强烈的椰子香味,冲淡时,具有似桃、似杏香气。沸点136℃(1.73kPa),121-122℃(0.8kPa),相对密度0.9672(19℃),折射率1.4462(19.5℃)。溶于乙醇及大多数有机溶剂,不溶于水。具有一般内酯的性质,与碱作用生成羟基酸盐。该品商业上的俗名为椰子醛(实际上并非醛类)。

制备方法:1.由β,γ-壬烯酸在硫酸作用下内酯化制得。壬烯酸由庚醛与丙二酸反应制得。将80%的硫酸与壬烯酸一起搅拌,内酯化反应完成后,用水洗涤反应物,以油层用碳酸钠溶液中和,再经水洗,将油状物减压蒸馏即得γ-壬内酯。2.由7-羟基正壬酸与硫酸共热脱水而得。3.用铈、钒等高价醋酸盐或醋酸锰(+3)作氧化剂,由α-庚烯与醋酸反应而得

用途:本品用于配制果香型饮料香精,如椰子香精、苦杏仁香精等,还用作高级化妆品调香用的香料。也是一种有机合成的原料。
