化学式PbI2。黄色六方晶体;熔点402℃,沸点954℃,密度6.16克/厘米3;在水中的溶解度较小,为0.063克/100克水(20℃)。在蒸气中,二碘化铅以单分子形式存在,分子呈∨形结构。二碘化铅能溶于较浓的碘化钾溶液中形成PbI娸;溶于强碱溶液形成Pb(OH)娸。二碘化铅有感光性,在潮湿空气中能被光逐渐分解,生成一氧化铅和碘。在硝酸铅溶液中加入可溶性碘化物,如碘化钾,可制得二碘化铅。二碘化铅可用作金属着色剂。
